Hello beautiful people! I am Margarita and I’m Greek, currently based in Athens. Exploring the world and its beauties, spending a lot of time cooking, being with people that I love, meditating , reading and practicing yoga are some of the things that fill me with happiness. But what really arouses my sensations is the sea..
I have been practicing yoga for 6 years, sometimes in a daily routine, other times not even weekly. After an incident that changed my daily routine, I found myself changing in order to adapt to a new reality, which led me to incorporate pranayama and meditation into my life more and more. The past year I’m almost practicing everyday. I’m trying to change my practice every once in a while, so my mind and body don’t get used to a “routine.”
Lately I have found myself wandering through somatic awareness, which is really liberating and healing. Having studied social anthropology and studied a lot of psychology as well, I realized that movement has always been an expression for people, from tribal and ritual ethnic dances to ballet and modern dance. Movement can give people the freedom to communicate something more profound without words and this is very special for me.
Additionally, in a world that the body has been and keeps on being judged, limited and stereo typically perceived by so many people, I prefer to approach it in a non- determined way. That’s exactly when I found myself experimenting with a kinetic hatha yoga –and sometimes hatha vinyasa- which gives me the space to feel my body’s needs, express myself through the movement and spend some time with myself on its purest form.
At the end of the day I will be very content if any of my students or people that I talk with, take or consider taking yoga off mat. Yoga, for me, is not only about flexible, strong bodies doing the perfect handstand. It also applies to a way of life, a mindset, a way of treating the other inhabitants of this world. To achieve a mindful and calm way of life, it’s very fundamental to accept ourselves and then the world as a union. Namaste.
